Wi-Fi Alliance® Releases Wi-Fi Protected Setup™

January 8, 2007: Las Vegas, NV

The Wi-Fi Alliance® has officially announced the release of its Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ Program.
This optional certification program is based on a specification developed by Wi-Fi Alliance member companies to provide an industry-wide solution for simplifying security configuration on a network.  Until now, some consumers have found activating security on their Wi-Fi CERTIFIED® devices complex.  Wi-Fi Protected Setup was created to improve the Wi-Fi user’s experience with installing security features on their network by providing two easy-to-use methods for configuration: 1) Push-Button Configuration 2) PIN/Numeric Code.  The new approach reduces the number of setup steps by half.

More information on the Wi-Fi Protected Setup Specification, including a free white paper, is available at http://www.wi-fi.org.
